“Liberating and Empowering Communities of Learners”


Introduction

La Clase Mágica (LCM) translated to “The Magical Class” is a bilingual/bicultural technology based after school program located within five underserved and underrepresented communities throughout San Diego County.


As part of the UC Links Network and modeled after the Fifth Dimension Project, La Clase Mágica is an after school program where learners from low income communities and undergraduate students from the University of California, San Diego and Palomar Community College collaborate and learn around computer and telecommunication activities.

LCM is a multi-level, multi-system project that seeks to enhance the academic achievement of minority children in K-12 an their representation in higher education. It is a powerful and vibrant social action project that addresses the educational experience of minority learners targeting Latino and Native American communities.

La Clase Mágica (LCM) is currently a federation of five community-based projects supported by a non-profit organization called CASA (Center for Academic and Social Advancement), and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in collaboration with Palomar Community College.
